Come preparare l'acquario al rientro dalle vacanze

1. First check as soon as you get home

Upon your return:

  • Do a quick visual check of the aquarium: observe the clarity of the water, the presence of algae or residues, and the behavior of the fish.

  • Check the temperature: if you have installed an automatic fish feeder like the AQPet Simple model, you might have noticed a slight temperature increase due to the batteries. This compact feeder can be programmed for two meals a day (12/24h) and keeps food fresh thanks to its anti-humidity pad, an excellent solution for summer.

2. Restore the environment with an effective water change

Perform a partial water change (15-20%) to remove accumulated harmful substances without disturbing the biological balance.
If you want to make the process simple and controlled, use AQPet's EasyFill, a top-off system with a compact electric pump, 1.8-3m hose, ON/OFF switch, and tank rim clamp for a constant and safe flow.

3. Check and restore filtration

After your absence, it is essential to ensure that the filtering system is operating at its best. If you have a universal internal filter like the AQPet BioBox 550, take this opportunity to clean it: thanks to its triple internal division (mechanical, chemical, and biological) and top opening, maintenance is quick and effective.

4. Control of chemical-physical parameters and minor adjustments

Measure pH, hardness, salinity, and temperature, and correct with appropriate products only if necessary. Gradual stabilization is preferable to drastic interventions to avoid altering your fish's habitat.

5. Observation during the following week

In the following days:

  • Keep an eye on the water clarity, the resumption of fish activity, and plant behavior.

  • Remove any algae or food residues.

  • Evaluate if further small water changes or filter adjustments are necessary to fully restore the balance.
