HOLLOW BIO BEADS is a biological filter material with an innovative, patented hollow design that promotes the deep formation of denitrification zones. Made of inert ceramic, it has a large usable surface area, approximately 700 m²/L. Thanks to Open PorosityTM technology, it has a special structure with open macropores that ensures perfect colonization while delaying clogging, thus extending maintenance intervals. Its shape allows for a different distribution of NH+4 and NO-2 ions, which can therefore be actively absorbed. It has a low impact on TDS and does not alter the pH value (pH 7/7.5). Most of the pores are located, as a percentage, in the 45/55 µm and 10 nm range, which means that the surface is biologically and truly usable for bacterial colonization.
